Two days ago I found in another social networking site a link to Zubby.com
Apparently the owner of Zubby.com opened it up for the public without having completed the marketing campaign. He decided to emulate some other recent competitors and offer the user a reward for joining Zubby. I read it said:
Zubby will reward the first 1000 people that sign up for the site and maintain themselves active, as long as the site exists. Also, it will reward those users when they refer a certain target number of people.
My thoughts on this:
Let's see if it is worth getting into?
I took a look the site is what I have been looking for since I discovered social networking back in 2005; a site that is clean and clear, allows for user custumization but with moderation, to take into account other user's taste.
What truly came to my attention was that everything seems in the right place, and I could tell that the potential was there for a smooth running site. Of course there was a clash today when many users from diverse sites started to ad-spam-vertise their business, in the not really made for advertising spaces: bulletins, blogs, other's people's group. An e-mail was sent by the owner, he probably did not anticipate today's expansion but how can we blame him?
Honestly I took a chance and decided today to let my fellow social networkers know about the site and the "so-called" reward. A lot of them are counting on me, so I really hope that the administrators pull-it off.
We came into Zubby today, I honestly did the numbers and it went from 180 members at 2PM Pacific Time to 650 members at 2AM Pacific Time, right now. If my math does not lie to me that's a 260% increase in 12 hours. Well, for now I will promote Zubby until the 1000 mark, that will be tomorrow I think at 12 noon, I mean I like the site but it takes time to grow it nonetheless. But will continue to recommend it to my fellow social networkers, if it lives up to its potential.
To end this note I congratulate the owner, the site is formidable for my taste. I expect that he prepares himself for what there is to come, as I expect a fast growth. The first few weeks will dictate the course of Zubby.
And I expect also for the site to be cleaned of unwanted advertising.
