The Idiocy of Racism
Racism. One of life's mysteries, and one of the saddest. I mean, why does it matter what colour someone's skin is? I mean, REALLY? Sadly, in the UK, we have one of the least tolerant societies going. And it's not just against "outsiders" from other countries (although that's bad enough), but also against our supposed fellow countrymen.For instance, Scottish people generally hate English people (I should know - I'm Scottish, but one of the reasons I left my homeland was because of the sheer bigotry my English girlfriend of the time received). We seem to have this major chip on our shoulder that England raped our country in years gone by, and for that, we'll never forgive them. But excuse me, my fellow Scots who follow this notion, we were doing a pretty good job of destroying our own country way before England even became involved (the Highland clan wars, the north and south divide, and the switching of the Border people's loyalty depending which country was winning any given war with Scotland spring to mind). And, if it weren’t for the Scottish "nobility" pandering to whoever paid a penny into their greed-filled pockets, then maybe England's inhabitants would not have taken up the option to live on Scottish land in the first place.But it's the overall "British view" against people of a different colour that really saddens me. Why is a black person supposedly inferior to a white person, just because of the colour of their skin? You mean to tell me that wonderful, strong black people such as Martin Luther King, Jesse Jackson and Muhammed Ali are "inferior"? They've influenced whole generations, regardless of colour and creed.And forgive me, but you give me a football fan of say, the England national team. It's the World Cup final, it's 1-1 against Brazil, and Jermain Defoe has the ball and is guaranteed to score the winner. You'd rather have your national team, who you supposedly love, lose than have someone with coloured skin score? Pretty pathetic.And I feel just as sorry for the Asian/Indian community. The abuse they have to suffer, from name-calling such as "paki" and "terrorist", to being accused of "stealing the white man's jobs". What bullsh*t!These so-called "job thieves" do the jobs because the people complaining are too lazy to get off their backsides and work in the first place. The amount of times I've shook my head in disbelief, as a jobless layabout complains that "the pakis are destroying this community", all while his own lawless kids are out terrorising old people, and he himself is contributing to the community simply by keeping his local pub in beer money, because our government has made it too easy for lazy good-for-nothings like him to rake in the money on benefits. All while the "immigrants who are ruining the country" are working hard, and paying their taxes, to keep jobless lowlifes like him in beer and cigarette money.Great Britain? Don't make me laugh. When was the last time you could truly say Britain was ever great...
