The Process of Growth
by danib3

I’ve noticed a lot of concern buzzing around Zubby Land here lately.

From bulletins suggesting a possible scam site to new groups demanding payment, it looks like a lot of our fellow Zubby-ites have become frustrated and forgetful in just this one short month of unbelievable growth.

First of all, I don’t know about you, but I do some research on a site before I just sign up and expect miracles. I feel a responsible member should have done their homework on Zubby as well as its founder, Randy Zlobec, before joining…and especially before going off on a tangent about this being a scam site.

I don’t personally know Randy, but I have worked with him before and many of my co-workers, including my boss, have worked more closely with him and his endeavors. Now, if you aren’t lucky enough to already know a bit about the man who is supposed to be signing your Zubby paycheck, I suggest a simple Google search for his name.

You will find that our fearless leader is not at all new to internet marketing. As a matter of fact, he is actually a leading name in search engine optimization. I feel, although that experience may not directly relate to a new social networking site, Randy’s experience and reputation are more than enough to provide us with a profitable, fun, and safe networking site that will continue to grow and prosper.

This concern seems to reach further than simply not trusting Randy, however. It looks to me like a lot of us are just not really thinking about the whole concept here.

How many of you have ever started a new business or even a new website?

Did you gain 1000 new customers your first week in business?

Most likely not. If you did, please, please, please tell me your secrets!

A new endeavor of any type typically takes some amount of time to reach that first level of growth. If you remember an email Randy sent out on 11/28, he said:

“It seemed like the site was going to take about a year to get to the 1,000 member mark yet we did it really in less than 1 week starting from our initial 50 or so members. This growth is because of all our immediate family members, you know the first 1000 of you!â€

Now, if the owners here thought it would take a year to reach the 1000 mark, how in the world could we possibly expect them to be ready to accept that kind of growth in just a mere week?!

In the three weeks since reaching the 1000 mark, we’ve only managed to pull in another 500 members.

Does anyone remember the next email we received from Randy? It was on the 30th of November, just 2 days after we reached the 1000 mark.

That email contained some pretty important info for those concerned about getting paid and I think a lot of us forgot it. Reread this excerpt:

“the completed system will hopefully be in place by mid 2008.. This really depends how well Zubby can do over the next few months. The better we can do the faster we can get this system implemented. Reason being: it costs quite a bit of money and Zubby needs to raise these funds through various advertising partnerships etc...

So, with that being said, now you know what we are working on and how the members who joined after the first 1000 will make money. The reason we were trying to keep it a secret was because of the development time. We don't want anyone to get discouraged over how long it may possibly take to get everything up and running. So, please be patient with us & know we are dedicated to making this website and all of our members a success.â€

Zubby is new. We, the first 1000 especially but every single one of us these first few months, are like investors in this new business. The good thing is, we’re only being asked to invest our time and energy, and especially our marketing efforts, instead of our money.

We are responsible for building membership and growing Zubby while all the final touches are put in place. When Zubby gets past that initial phase of growth, profits will begin to come in and we will see our share. “The bigger Zubby gets, the more money we all make.â€

The first 1000 have been promised a share of 10% of the revenue, while others will be on a different plan that has yet to be announced but involves the star system.

In my opinion, instead of sitting around whining and complaining, we should still be promoting Zubby like crazy so we can start making some cash…it is our responsibility if we want to make money, right? And the faster we increase membership, the sooner we can start profiting.

We need to work together as a team to continue the insane growth rates Zubby has seen in this short month, not try to start a revolt and make people feel like they’ve made a mistake!

We all need to stop, step back, and take a look at the big picture.

You’ve joined a brand new website that grew to 1500 members in just a month. You’re obviously a part of something amazing--that kind of following just doesn’t happen.

If it’s that big now, think of how big Zubby could be in a year, 5 years, imagine 10 years down the road - if we continue to promote it and stand behind it the way we did in the beginning.

MySpace is said to bring in $500 million a year. If all 1000 members stay active, we will each make $50,000 a year for being charter members of Zubby - can anyone say WOW?!

That motivates me to promote the fact that Zubby is the ultimate social networking site. And for those of you who aren’t as motivated by that figure, well, that just means a little more for the rest of us…if just 100 of the 1000 are no longer active, that’s an extra $5500 a year for the remaining 900.

Don’t you think our efforts could be better spent on attracting new members instead of complaining about something we already know the answer to?

The problem I had when the growth went so fast in 3 or 4 days the people who showed up here decided to spam the heck out of everyone and people I had coming to see how the site looked and how things worked didn't want to have to deal with the spam!

Seriously, Paulo has continually sent spam and griped since joining. Instead of pointing the finger at the owner (who owes you absolutely nothing but has offered to share anyhow) you could stop spamming the site (which you have slowed down on at least) and start trying to invite friends and family to become part of a friendly site.

Why is it that everyone needs to be paid to join anyhow???

Do the members of MySpace get paid to join???

No, but there are other incentives to join.
There are friends, family, fun groups to join, etc...

We have that here, you can create your area, invite who you want to visit it, make your own blog, your own page, put up your art, your music, your pics and make this your area of the WorldWideWeb

Instead of focusing on the negative and standing on street corners of Zubby with your hands out begging for money go out and create an influx of traffic so the site can afford to share the wealth.

If you scare off all of the prospective visitors then the site can't grow.

I remember during the phenomonal growth days being told by allenjaime that you were telling everyone to hurry and sign up and you were going to keep promoting the site until it hit 1000 members.

So, did you stop?

12/17/2007 18:31:25
Well I tried that one, but it seems like people are not interested in that. I would suggest you create such a group and get organized. So that we can target different niches.

Paulo,

Randy is trying to nicely tell us that there are no intentions of announcing the revenue plan until 2008...unless things move faster.

So, we can whine and cry about it being hard to get new members because we don't have all the answers
or
We can get off our a**es, get creative, and figure out how to promote Zubby with a "future revenue plan that will be in place by the middle of next year. And this profit share promises to be better than any other social network out there...blah, blah, blah"

Know that you are a member of a good site, you could make a pretty penny with just 10% (the numbers are really to relative to make any predictions), and market the hell out of it.

I think we can do it with the info we have...we just have to get the right mindset and a positive attitude.

And on the spam subject, I didnt really care for comments inviting me to join things or visit sites. I would rather see "hi have a nice day" ...

And it really bothered me to see one of those as the first comment to a member that joined under me because it can be a real turn-off to a lot of people.

I haven't noticed as many of those coming from you lately though and I appreciate it.

Maybe we need a Zubby promotion strategies group or something and we can all share ideas...or maybe there is something like that already??

My most productive effort is here:
http://onemoreword.com/?p=47

My blog doesn't get much traffic, so it hasn't been an earth shaking help

12/17/2007 15:02:42
Sorry, but I really don't understand all of this.

One more time you talk but say nothing. Anything that you said answer all my questions or even allenjaime doubts.

Right now It's difficult to recruit people to Zubby and the numbers are there. It's not just me. 800 people in 3 days and 500 in 4 weeks.

What SPAM have to do with it? This is a diversion maneuver. The problem is not SPAM and I don't know why you are talking about it. It was not because of SPAM that people did not sing up ZUBBY! It's because there is some uncertainty of what Zubby can give to us.

I will stay here and will continue to be active and nothing can do anything about. I just want to be sure that I'm in the right ship.

Regards
Paulo Aboim Pinto

One thing is good about all of this: We are talking about it.

First of all I never question Randy name or prestige, I also google about him and found a good person and that's why I join Zubby.

One of the things that I'm not liking about Zubby is this silence and how we all are OK with this.
Other services like Narple, Lazzeo or other that use the same software have compensation plan implemented and Randy is asking us to stay until February. Why?

Like this, that other Internet Social Network will pass us by and leave us behind when we was in the lead. When we was the fast growing Internet Social Network Program that in few day goes from 200 people to 1000 like allenjaime told.

I'm not abandoning Zubby, I'm just asking why we have to wait when other don't wait? What they are doing different then Randy? It's the same software.... I really don't understand.

Right now, Zubby don't bring anyone in. Don't have any "candy" inside for people to join this program. Because it's a family program? That will bring what? 500 people in 4 weeks when we get 800 people in 3 days?

It's just me or you all can't see that this is not going anywhere? This is stuck.

Paulo Aboim Pinto

Well certainly I am not taking credit for that, but I know and I see many familiar faces in Zubby from the first 1000.
And definitely it wasn't me alone that brought 800 people in 2 days, but ask around and see where they heard from this baby.

I don't feel insulted at all. I didn't want to insult anyone. I just wanted to make that clear, it doesn't matter were we came or who referred us.

Now that we are here the important question is as a TEAM how are we going to promote Zubby?

So if admins wants to wait until they launch their ad campaign, they could help out but letting us in.

BTW Press release was released in Nov. 10.
http://www.free-press-release.com/news/200711/1194753576.html
The Zubby news hit Yuwei by Nov.25, I came in 135, so it grew from staff and friends to 135 in 15 days, and then 865 more in 4 days, by Nov 29 Zubby was full with 1000 members. Just to clear things up.

And I don't know if you have noticed the 1000 bulletins from Yuwei of the way the Yuwei was banned almost immediately from Zubby.

I am not taking credit of course I am giving you the facts, of course I was referred by someone in Yuwei.

And I do admire the staff members all of them are being very helpful, and I know that they all are working hard for this baby.

This was directed mostly at the 1000 members family.

12/17/2007 01:24:10
....promoting Zubby.

Now I think that we need a 25% to really feel like it is fair and we will do the promotion. Also there has to be shares among those 1000, to see who is bringing in more people.

To admin if they state in better terms the full benefits for referring people this will motivate more, because right now I see that only a few of us have actually made some writing about it. I spent 1 day making a lens in squidoo, you can find it in my profile: Will Zubby compete?

So guys if you wanna get paid right now you might as well go back to Narple or Lazzeo or Rotatrix.

I will stay with Zubby and reap the benefits in the future.

Now admin must be careful in marketing Zubby, a gorilla is not a good marketing icon for a social network, business and family social network.

A friendlier mascot or pet or whatever you want to call it will be more appropiate.

And yes the people whining its getting annoying, but its good to hear what you guys think.

Stop with the group creation to take people away from Zubby!
Help each other and be friendly. I have SEM techniques that can make your articles and blogs come up in the google rankings and get noticed.

If the 1000 members work as a team we can make Zubby grow. I am a well educated individual, and I know when I see potential. So please stop whining and help!

Also to admin if you expect this business to grow I would suggest 3 things:
- Raising the bar to 25%
- Forget about the gorilla - Hire a top "social network specialist"

Actually Randy does real estate in his hometown and it operates online as well. So he does optimize his own business, but the ability to do so for other businesses is just as much work.

You need to consider to, Randy has searched for advertisers that he has hand selected for Zubby...that could have the potential of bringing in more money than other networks.

The numbers are relative and depend on a lot of things. Regardless, there is a possibility to make decent side money for doing what we enjoy.

And I agree, that requires an active desire to make Zubby successful. This is our baby just as much as it is the Zlobec's and I believe they feel the same way.

And Jaime, I'm sure you're a very valuable part of this team...but it's important to remember that it is a TEAM. I'm sure all 1000 members didn't come solely from your efforts.

Hell, my coworker wrote the press release. It's not really fair to take that much of the credit.

I'm going to bed. It's late and I think I've turned into a real winch tonight

I hope I haven't offended anyone - not at all my intentions.

This is just an important time in the life of Zubby and we all need to work together if we want to get somewhere.

Good night all

Danielle

Facts: MySpace, monthly income: $25 000 000, members 220 000 000
Facebook, $8 000 000, 60 000 000.
Zubby 1500, growth in 4 days from 135 to 1000. Who do we thank for this, some of my friends in Yuwei, Esqueleto, Heidi, and many others.

I did do the google search, Randy is a SEO and SEM for other businesses, not his own.
Now why did I came and promote like crazy in the niche that I knew will hit up in 2 days(Yuwei). Because I wanted to be a part of something new and help the owner adjust it to what I feel will bring more people, what is this.

- Family atmosphere
- No SPAM
- Security (no hacking or bots)
- Business opportunities (in the right place)
- Social lounge, fun stuff to read.

I personally don't like that it seems like he wants to sell Zubby- packaged with his book SEM gorilla.
And I clearly stated that in one of the blogs and forums.

I want ZUBBY to grow!!
I pushed to make it grow, I made a group to help people, because I like the site. Ask anyone here or in Yuwei about Zubby I spammed the hell of YUWEI notice board.

Now I feel like the 10% should be 25%, but if it stays 10%.
The maximum we are going to make if we ever reach 10 000 000, the monthly income would be $1.2 million, 10% of that is 120 000, divided by 1000, is $120.

You can do the numbers based on that.

If we ever hit 100 000 000, then it would be $1200 a month for each of the 1000 members.

If you guys want to get rich off Zubby we need exponential growth, and that means motivated people like me ....

12/17/2007 00:46:24
Ok, I don't want to argue about this, I really just don't want to see a dysfunctional Zubby family...especially not this early on.

And if we're not all on the same page, or we're feeling cheated, or if some of us are thinking that the others are out to get us...well, it's just not gonna be one big happy family. And how many referrals will we get with Zubby. one big f***d up family?

Here's what your bulletin said:
"BOY,IF
I DIDN'T KNOW BETTER,AND CLOSED MY EYES,I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THIS IS A
MORE MODERN VERSION OF PROFILELOOKER.COM....AND THAT'S THE SCARY
PART...BECAUSE,FOR THOSE THAT DON'T KNOW THAT SITE;IT WAS A SITE SETUP
4 SCAMMERS,BY SCAMMERS....I'M HOPING THAT I AM WRONG...SO PLEASE
EVERYBODY-BE CAREFUL,UNTIL WE KNOW BETTER.....(REPRINTED FROM MY BULLETIN ON 12/5/07)"

you clearly said zubby is a more modern version of a scam site...so I don't really think I was wrong in my accusation. But you do have a right to your opinion.

I would just hope you could back up this opinion with more facts than "the sites look the same"

A little research on who is will show that the domain was purchased in 2001 by Randy Zlobec in SC...way before the creation of profilelooker in 2006, registered to someone in PA.

Where's the connection?
