I am a Katrina survivor. For almost three years we have been trying to get our lives back in order. I thought we finally had when we were able to purchase our own home. However I changed jobs so that I would not have to travel so far to work. The price of gas was a big decision in this for me because it was costing quite a bit.
To make a long story short, things did not work out at the new job. I waited for two weeks for a paycheck and when I got two checks, they both bounced. We have gotten behind due to all this and I do not want to lose my home. That was practically the only thing that kept me going for the past three years. The hope of a home of my own and my grandbabies. So I am asking for help until we can recover and get things back on track. This is also home for my grandbabies a lot of the time, because they lived with us before Katrina.
I know many people are tired of hearing about Katrina; I am sometimes very tired of it myself. My life changed dramatically on that August morning. I almost lost my husband in the days following Katrina because he had just been released from the hospital the day before after having triple by-pass surgery. He still has a lot of health issues, some of which are a result of being in the water we were in with a fresh incision all the way down his chest.
I will find another job. Of that I have no doubt. I have worked all my life. However I do not want to lose my home while I am looking for one. If that should happen, all the work of the past three years is down the drain.
If you are unable to help, please say a small prayer for me. I am truly thankful that you have taken the time to listen to me.
