Hi guys!
After seeing Randy's positive answer in the poll where I asked - "Would you consider sponsoring a Zubby-friends team in the Madness Against Malaria Tournament?" - I quickly decided to enter our own "Zubby-Friends Against Malaria" team to the tournament! - TEAM ZUBBY. My hope of course is that you want to be a part of this and participate by donating $5 for a bed net (100% of the money buys nets!), but also to get your friends and family involved in this fun competition to try and win the tournament for the Zubby family! c",) But, be smart about it! We need some donations at this stage to take us to the next step in the tournament, but then all teams start at zero again, and will be teamed up with others to compete for the chance to get to the next round, and so on.. Read more at: "How It Works" here.
Please consider joining in for the lives of many children AND the GLORY for the ZUBBY FAMILY! Thanks c",) Go to: http://www.madnessagainstmalaria.com/TeamZubby

I got this story from Lance Laifer (the funder of Madness Against Malaria and Hedge Funds vs Malaria)... Please read the entire story: Ban Ki-moon appoints Ray Chambers as Special Envoy for Malaria
14 February 2008 – With two children dying each minute from malaria, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today announced the appointment of Ray Chambers of the United States as his Special Envoy to mobilize global support for action on the disease. “Mr. Chambers will help the Secretary-General to raise the issue of malaria on the international political and development agendas including by doing all in his power to reduce child deaths from the disease,” a spokesperson for Mr. Ban said. A philanthropist and humanitarian, Mr. Chambers is the Founding Chairman of the Points of Light Foundation and Co-Founder, with Colin Powell, of America's Promise - The Alliance for Youth. Speaking to reporters in New York, Mr. Chambers recalled the dawning of his understanding about the tragedies caused by malaria through Jeffrey Sachs, the Secretary-General Special Adviser on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), a set of antipoverty targets to be reached by the year 2015. Mr. Chambers remembered the moment when Mr. Sachs showed him a photograph of some children he thought were sleeping. “I said, ‘Aren’t they cute?’ And he said, ‘You don’t understand; they are all in malaria comas.’ They subsequently died, and I’ve never been able to get that rid of that image.” Since then, he studied the disease, which kills millions each year despite being preventable in what Mr. Chambers called “a genocide of apathy.” He reviewed recent initiatives to galvanize action on the issue, including “Idol Gives Back,” a charity event by the “American Idol” televised talent competition, which raised $80 million for malaria and other causes. “We’re going to do that again this April,” said Mr. Chambers. He said efforts would be made to raise $8 billion to $10 billion in the coming years to address malaria, he said. With that budget and concerted action, it would be possible to significantly cut mortality rates. “That won’t eradicate malaria,” he said, adding that a longer-term plan to achieve a vaccine would take perhaps decades.

" Madness Against Malaria is the world's first and only competitive fundraising bracketed tournament in the world. The Madness Against Malaria tournament idea is a riff on March Madness, the N.C.A.A. basketball tournament, to harness the excitement that people feel about their sports team and put it toward rescuing dying children. ("You don't have the same excitement about saving lives," Mr. Laifer, the funder, said).
2007 was the first year the tournament was held and it is already one of the largest fundraisers against malaria on the Internet. Over $114,000 has been donated and 100% of all funds are used to buy the best nets for $5 per net! This is the best price in the world!
To learn more about the tournament and enter a team or support a team please visit: " Madness Against Malaria"

I think we got really worthy winners of the Nobel Peace Prize this year. Not to mention the importance of awarding the great people dedicated to save our planet from global warming..!
It was a great pleasure to watch Al Gore give his Nobel Peace Prize Lecture. The Peace Prize is presented on December 10th each year (the day after the date of Alfred Nobel's death). If you missed it, here it is in full: “If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
- We need to go far, quickly!
