Off to Liverpool this weekend. The daughter of my best mate Steve is getting engaged and I've been invited to the party. Been good friends with Steve for almost 40 years and it's been a pleasure and a privilege to see his three girls grow up and get married.
He and his wife Barbara have been very kind to me and quite a rock when I have faced challenges at home as my wife is disabled. I like being a husband and a Dad but I'm not cut out to be a carer .. don't think it's a natural role. Anyway, I'm not here to moan. The point I wanted to make is that relationships are the building blocks of life, especially family - treasure them if you can.
Well, it's Friday again and the weekend is upon us. Although I enjoy the weekend the weeks seem to be passing by so quick. I plan to go down into Sheffield city centre for a meal with the wife and a friend who's on her own nowdays. Give her a bit of company. My beloved Sheffield Wednesday is playing local rivals Barnsley at football )proper English footy - what our American cousins call Soccer - what a yukky word) so there will be some good banter there, Up the Owls!
Well, it's back to work today ...yuk. Once again there's a red tinge to the sky so I am expecting some rain. I'll just have to keep taking the tablets. Hope you had a good weekend. Went to the flicks (cinema - I'm old school) last night with my mate Malc to see Jumper. Good film but strange ending. Some good films out lately.
