GLOBAL FRIENDSHIP & CULTURE CENTER
Posted On 09/24/2008 22:59:35
With the Global Friendship and Culture Center (GFCC) we want to create a tool to make new members stay at their community even if they don’t speak English fluently and to promote the understanding between members from different cultures. This way we support friendsXcetra, the new community with the best leaders who want to shape a really global community with high numbers of members all over the world who are connected to a worldwide network of friends in a mood of understanding and accepting different cultures and beliefs.

Let’s face it: there are a lot of social sites in the net which assert to be international but if you have a look you see nothing than a big cemetery of failed attempts, all the bones of members who have tried to join a community without speaking the language of this site really fluently – they have logged in one, two, may be three times and then they have given up for it was to difficult to follow up in a strange language.

GFCC will enable members from all over the world to take part in many activities of the community in their native languages and become really active members by not only creating communication areas but also giving help and support in the accordant languages.

The Global Friendship and Culture Center also wants to better the knowledges of members about the living and the culture in another country hoping that a better understanding of members from different areas of the world may help to make this world a place of more peace and compassion. So the tasks of GFCC will be:

  • to help members to inform about other countries, to contact members from other countries and to celebrate together to create real global friendship
  • to help new members of a social site who don't have English as primary language to find help and support in their native language
  • to built areas in which members who don't speak English fluently can communicate in their own languages, this may help them to become active in the different areas of their community, too
  • to help members who haven't spoken a language for a long time to refresh their skills easily
  • to help members in all language related issues or in starting to learn a new language

To do so for all the many languages and countries demands a huge quantity of helpers from all over the world.

In the moment we are looking for the former national leaders or chiefs of language areas. But whether you will become a National Coordinator or a Chief of Department for a certain language on the long run you will need your team of helpers. The purpose of this forum is to discuss ways to find new prospects for GFCC, to discuss the results of the attempts and to give candidates for leading positions a place to prove themselves.

Of course needed translations also will be posted in this forum.

You want to help? Everybody can be useful for our project: If you haven’t any language skills besides English you may give informations about your homeland or the country or culture you like. If you cannot do this you may help us posting or advertising or simply write a blog about the GFCC.

Nevertheless we would like to know something about you. So please tell us in a reply or in a Personal Message to me something about your language skills, your thoughts about GFCC, your personal plannings, your internet experience especially in social networking for example whether you are member or staff at other social sites.

After you have posted or messaged me we will response to you as soon as possible.

PLEASE HELP MY FRIEND CHRISTINE.
Posted On 05/02/2008 16:23:41

Behind a brightly colored, overgrown bougainvillea bush in Linda Vista hides the modest home of Christine Hauser. She’s lived in the house for more than 20 years, but this week she’s getting kicked out—evicted for defaulting on her loans.

Hauser’s known the foreclosure was coming for some time, she explains, as she leads me through her house stacked to the ceiling with boxes and possessions she’ll likely lose in the shuffle, but, she says, she believes she’s done everything she could. When the police come knocking May 1, she’ll have no choice but to go. As of yet, she hasn’t found a place to live.

“I still haven’t figured out exactly what I’m going to do,” says Hauser, who’s managed to collect $275 from friends, which she’ll use to help pay for the storage space she rented for the few things she can’t bear to leave behind.

People who know Hauser call her “Tie-Dye Chris” or simply “The Tie-Dye Lady,” because her main source of income comes from the tie-dyed shirts, dresses, kids’ clothes and even underwear she creates and sells at craft shows and bazaars. Her regular vendor spot is at the Seaside Bazaar in Encinitas on Saturdays and Sundays, but she travels to bigger craft shows across the country when she can.

It was one of these bigger shows, in fact—the Kenny King RV show—that Hauser partly blames for her financial woes. She spent $400 for a spot and stocked up on tie-dye products, expecting to sell more than she’d ever sold before.

“I thought it’d be my salvation,” she says, looking down in noticeable embarrassment, “but it wasn’t.”

That financial hit, combined with generally poor sales during the previous few summers and an accident a few years earlier—she was hit by a car, leaving her with chronic back and knee problems and prohibiting her from working for a time—made the downward spiral more like a high-powered vortex that sucked up her savings.

Finding a cheap new place to live would be easier for some, but Hauser has 23 cats—yes, 23—and she refuses to abandon them. She rescues cats and, because she’s somewhat of a softy, she ends up keeping them.

“I look in their little eyes, and promised that I wouldn’t leave them,” she says, “and I’m just such a cat person—there just has to be a way to get through all this.”

-OR-

Thank you for your beautiful story about a lovely woman who rescues cats and
has compassion for all God's critters.

I did send her a donation and teamed up with one of her other friends from
the Internet to help spread the word about Christine Hauser's need for help
with housing for herself and the cats she has rescued.

Chris is a dedicated crafts creator making a difference in the lives of
animals who have no homes and no voice. Since I love animals and cats have
been a great comfor in my own life I will continue to ask those who can help
to contact you at City Beat.
They can also contact me at the PeaceClinic,
thepeaceclinic@gmail.com or the website, http://www.thepeaceclinic.org and I
will pray for her financial recovery and a new home somewhere in San Diego
County so she can continue to create and sell all those fantastic tye-dye,
'60's retro T-shirts and other lovely things to remind us of when life was
more fun.

As a peace teacher I try to remind people of the cosmic need for more
compassion. The world is so poluted with negativity that we all need to show
appreciation for the simple act of kindness it takes for a person like Chris
who rescues and shelters lost and abused animals. She is a peace teacher by
example. I think her story should go to classroom teachers all over the
country. How can we do that.
Kinsee, thank you for all you do for our town and for those who just need a
little help from some friends. Hey, "love is all we need." You are my
"person of the week'" and I would love to get a call or email from you.

Also, thanks to anyone reading this message at City Beat and can or have
already helped support Chritine Hauser over a speed bump in her life. She is
worth it. Compassion is worth it.

Peace,

Chloe J. Freeland

SAM'S EXPERIENCE WITH SOCIAL SITES
Posted On 03/26/2008 14:34:13
I had joined a few friendship sites before I was invited to join FriendsXcetra  Network (commonly called FX). To be clear, the reason I joined friendship sites was because I missed knowing people from around the world....or, even people outside of my home state.

For many years, I lived in San Francisco.  One of the wonderful things about living there, was the ability to meet and grow close with people of different cultures and different nationalities.

After 15 years, I moved back home to be closer with my parents.  Both were elderly and I had a 5 year old daughter, too.  This was before the birth of the internet.  I desperately missed my friends and moving back to a small, rural community was culture shock ! It seemed like everyone was "freeze dried" in the 1970's when it was 1990!  Any thing "different" was suspect.

My first experiences with friendship sites was fairly shocking.  It was more like a dating site, and things were presented to me for shock value only.  When i stumbled upon  FX,  I assumed it would be more of the same.  My reasoning for joining was i prayed somewhere would be a pure friendship site which would feed my soul and offer friendships from around the world.  Indeed, EVERYTHING presented at FX was the truth.  Administration would not tolerate pornography, scams or even SPAMMING.  I

You hear different groups advertise: we are " family "...we will watch over you and protect you.  Well, FX really does this.  I have a cyber family: a virtual grandpaw (mine both died before I was born), a younger brother and sister (I am a single child) and even a daughter or two.  I watch them and their families and their pets like they were my family. I have experienced closeness and family and much laughter at FX.

I hope you will join us in this wonderful site.   If you would like a personal invitation, please send me a message. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask me.  I am there to make your journey a pleasant, fulfilling one....remember, I'm only a click away.
