My article was published on the first try!
Posted On 03/24/2008 21:19:39
I just wrote my very first
article for Associated Content, and I honestly thought they would at
least decline the first time asking for corrections or a rewrite. But I
received the email today saying that it was approved for up front
payment! Wooohoooo! I'm so excited! This is my first time even giving
something like this a try. Thank you for letting me brag a bit and do
my Snoopy dance for you. LOL! Here's the link to my article if you want
to check it out:

Feel free to let me know what you think. Any advice on writing
techniques would be greatly appreciated. Love and hugs to
everyone........Carryl

To all of my lovely friends
Posted On 02/09/2008 22:39:18
I
want to apologize to all of you for not being around lately, and not
being able to visit your pages. I had my gastric bypass surgery on
January 31st, and am just now beginning to be able to sit up long
enough to spend time on the computer to catch up with you all. I don't
know how often I will be on over the next several weeks, but I will try
to check in as often as I can. The surgery itself went really smoothly,
but for the 5 hours afterward things were a little hairy because the
anesthesiologist never put anything in the IV to prevent nausea, plus
they had me on morphine which I am allergic to. Those coupled with my
breathing problems (I would pretty much forget to take a breath and the
monitor would flat line) made things pretty difficult for a while. But
I'm now home and in not so much pain, so I will be back to my old self
soon. Much love and lots of hugs to all of you........Carryl

I'm so excited I can't stand myself!!

I just got off the phone
with the nurse at the hospital where I will be having my gastric bypass
surgery. Guess what?? My surgery is scheduled for JANUARY 31st!!
Yaaaaaaayyyyyyyy! I have my pre op on the 23rd. I'm practically jumping
up and down in my chair as I'm typing here! The nurse told me that if I
gain weight, they won't do my surgery. So now, I'm really going to have
to hit the recumbent bike just to be safe. LOL! AND....I guess I'm
going to have to go and buy me some cute pajamas to wear while walking
up and down the hallway there. Can't be looking all ratty in front of
the public now, can I? Teeheehee!

My surgery could happen in as little as three weeks!
Posted On 01/09/2008 17:20:48

As
some of you know, I have been working toward having gastric bypass
surgery. Well, today, I had the second appointment with the dietitian,
and it went really well. I took the required test to show that I knew
what was going to be expected of me after surgery, and I ACED it!
Woooohooooo! The dietitian was very happy with my food records, my
weight loss, and also with the fact that I am at least trying to
incorporate some exercise into my every day routine. AND....come to
find out, even though he didn't have the results of my last two tests
(physical and upper endoscopy), the surgeon had already signed off on
the paper for me to have the surgery. Hopefully I will find out for
sure next week whether it has been bumped up or not. The nurse that
does the scheduling seems to think that it will happen very soon. It
takes two weeks for my insurance to approve it after the request is
submitted. So I might actually get my surgery for my birthday (or
sooner) next month! Keep your fingers crossed my friends. Hugs to all!

Grrrr! My disability claim was denied
Posted On 12/26/2007 17:18:13
Actually,
it isn't a real big surprise that they denied it. I've been told by
many people that trying to get Social Security Disability to approve a
claim is harder than pulling your own teeth without numbing them first.
ICK! Anyway, I just got my "rejection letter" today. It didn't make me
very happy. But my appointment with the dietitian for my weight loss
surgery is next Friday, and my surgery might be bumped up sooner. And
from what my doctor tells me, my having the surgery will automatically
qualify me for benefits. So I'm going to hold off until next week and
see what happens, THEN maybe I will still go ahead and file the appeal.
Any advice for filing that appeal will most definitely be gratefully
accepted. (Pretty please?). Hugs to all of you.

Just popping in
Posted On 12/25/2007 23:19:50
I
just wanted to stop in and say hi to you all. I hope everyone had a
wonderful Christmas (for those of you that don't celebrate it, I hope
your day was awesome too). My days yesterday and today were terrific.
We opened presents last night when the kids got home from their dad's.
And today, we went to my mother in law's, and we opened stockings
there, and pigged out until our eyes almost popped out, napped for a
while, ate more, napped again.....you know how it all goes. I am now
most definitely ready to go and conk out on my comfy pillow with my
stuffed bunny and the cats. LOL! Good night everyone. Hugs to all!

Results of my upper endoscopy
Posted On 12/19/2007 19:03:45
I had my appointment with my
surgeon this morning to go over the results of the upper endoscopy (a
camera being shoved down the throat, for those of you that aren't sure
what I'm talking about). Great news....everything turned out fine! I
was a bit worried, because right after the procedure, the surgeon told
me that she had seen some red tissue at the bottom of my stomach.
Turned out that the red was from the way things sometimes look on the
screen that the doctor is watching during the procedure. A couple of
biopsies were done and everything was fine. Now, hopefully, this will
help to expedite my weight loss surgery now that I have all the tests
out of the way.

My sweet Nipper...in loving memory
Posted On 11/30/2007 22:31:55
Last night was incredibly
painful for me and the family. I have lost yet another pet, this time
to some stupid careless driver that hit her right in front of my house.
One of the neighbors from down the street came and knocked on our door
and told her that my beloved cat, Nipper, was dead in the street. From
the look of her face and back, I think she died instantly, which makes
it a tiny bit easier to deal with. She was still very limp and loose
when hubby picked her up, so it must have happened just before the
neighbors came to the door. The sad thing is, we live on the last block
of our street, and it is a dead end....cars can't even go through the
alley anymore because the city closed it off. But there are a couple of
people here that drive way too fast, and I'm thinking it's one of them
that hit her.
She was one of my semi feral outside babies. I was
just getting to where I could pet her while she was eating. I am so
upset right now, and am crying as I am typing this. How can people be
so careless? How can they drive so fast in a neighborhood where there
are beloved pets, and more yet...young children? I am praying that it
was someone that simply didn't see her, and not someone that had a
hatred of cats.
My sweet kitty, I miss you so very much. I wish
you were here with me still. But I know that you are now reunited with
my beloved Meg, Baby Boots, and all the rest of my canine and feline
children that have gone over the Rainbow Bridge. I love you my
wonderful Nipper.
